WoW guide: Raid strategy Attumen The Huntsman - Karazhan

Attumen the Huntsman

Attumen the Huntsman is the first boss in Karazhan, he's usually used as a "check text" to see if the raid has the right level to go further. Midnight, his mount,is at 95% health.

Attumen: HP = 39400 - Damages = 5310-7508

Abilities

Intangible Presence: Reduces target's chance to hit with attacks and spells by 50%

Solution: Needs to be removed as soon as possible, healers are low priority targets.

Shadow Cleave: Inflicts weapon damage plus 1500 to an enemy and nearest allies, affecting up to 3 targets.

Desrciption: Cleave attack hits everybody in front of attumen for up to 4,000 damage
Solution: The main tank only should be in front of Attumen. When desarmed, Attumen cannot cleave.

Charge: Attumen only uses this ability while mounted (phase2) 8-25 yard charge. Charges an enemy, inflicting normal damage and stunning the target.

Description: Attumen charges people outside of melee range at random. The charge hits up to 6,000 and knocks the player down for a few seconds
Solution : Keep everyone's life topped off so that they don't get one shot. A priest should be ready to shield them before they get the damage. Targets should be healed as soon as possible when hit. You can avoid the charge if you stay in close range.

Midnight- HP 379400 - Damage 4248-6007

Abilities:

Knockdown:

Description: Deals 1500 damage to target, knocking them down for 3 seconds.

Mount: When Attumen or Midnight is at 25%, he will mount Midnight. This will heal Attumen to the same health as Midnight if he is lower, as well as reset all aggro. Attumen and Midnight must be in line of sight (LoS) to use this ability. If they are not in LoS, Attumen will despawn and the encounter will have to be reset.

Preparation

Assign the Main tank to Attumen, and an other tank to midnight. Healers should split evenly

Strategy #1

Begin the fight by having Midnight's tank attack first. Start DPS when threat is built.
When midnight gets to 95% life, Attumen joins the fight. Attumen's tank should have some Rage build up already from Midnight's fight t be able to pick up Attumen quickly. When on the tank, point him away from everyone to avoid the Cleave. Tank both bosses a little distance away from each otherand never face Attumen towards the raid.

All DPS should be on Midnight. When Midnight gets down to 25% life, Attumen mounts him. Attumen's HP is based on his previous HP while unmounted and he resets his thread list.
The main tank needs to pick him up and turn him away from the Raid as quickly as he/she can. Give the tank a few seconds to build threat and start DPS.
As soon as he is mounted, Attumen gains the charge attacks. Make sure everyone is a full life in case they are charged, and top them up right after it happens.

Keep Attumen's tank alive, don't let anyone die to charge, and DPS him for the remaining percents.

You can avoid the cleave if you stay behind him. (except the tank of course)

Strategy #2

You can try to split the DPS with the tanks between Attumen and Midight. It can be helpful as Attumen;s life when mounting Midnight is based on both his and his horse's current life. If you you get both of them down low, he'll have lower life when he mounts Midnight.
